☕️ Coffee isn't just delicious; it may also help treat cardiovascular diseases, according to the results of a recent study.
In 2022, researchers investigated the impact of different types of coffee on cardiovascular diseases, arrhythmias, and mortality. The findings were published in the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology.
The study revealed that moderate consumption of 2-3 cups per day of decaffeinated, ground, and instant coffee was associated with a reduced risk of cardiovascular diseases and mortality. Ground and instant coffee were also linked to a decrease in arrhythmia cases.
✅ Moreover, after thermal processing, coffee beans were found to contain beneficial substances such as vitamin PP, phenolic compounds, pyridine, acetic acid, hydroquinone, and pyrrole.
Evidence suggests that coffee may lower the risk of neurodegenerative diseases due to a substance called phenylindan, which forms during the roasting process. Phenylindans prevent the formation of proteins that cause Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases and may also reduce the risk of breast cancer.
☝️ Coffee has a strong diuretic effect.
❌ However, there are some contraindications.
Coffee consumption may decrease bone density in older adults and increase the risk of fractures. Caffeine can elevate fetal heart rate by crossing the placenta, so it's not recommended to drink coffee during pregnancy.
