❗️ Prolonged iodine deficiency can lead to limited production of hormones and the development of hypothyroidism—a sharp decrease in thyroid function.
Watch out for these signs of deficiency:
1️⃣ Constant feeling of fatigue and weakness
2️⃣ Daytime sleepiness sometimes combined with nighttime insomnia
3️⃣ Muscle weakness
4️⃣ Frequent and prolonged colds, activation of latent infections (herpes, shingles), as well as fungal and parasitic lesions of the skin and mucous membranes
5️⃣ Small injuries and wounds on the skin heal poorly

Thickening of the skin and enlargement of the lips and tongue may also develop
