Summer is mosquito season, and it's crucial to protect yourself from their bites.

These tiny insects can carry dangerous diseases caused by bacteria, viruses, and parasites.

Did you know that mosquitoes spread various illnesses to over 700 million people annually in Africa, South America, Central America, Mexico, Europe, and most of Asia? Sadly, at least 2 million people die from these diseases every year, and the actual number of cases is much higher than officially recorded.

Here are some of the diseases transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito:

✅ Yellow Fever
✅ Dengue Fever (the most common cause of fever among travelers returning from the Caribbean, Central America, and southern Central Asia)

Dengue fever can only be transmitted through bites from infected mosquitoes and cannot spread from person to person. Severe cases can be life-threatening.

Other mosquito-borne diseases include:

✅ Lymphatic Filariasis (main symptom: elephantiasis)
✅ Malaria (parasitic diseases)
✅ Tularemia (bacterial infection caused by Francisella tularensis, transmitted through various means, including fly and mosquito bites)

Stay safe this summer by using mosquito repellent, wearing protective clothing, and minimizing standing water around your home. #MosquitoAwareness #SummerSafety #HealthTips
