"We are observing a noticeable increase in the number of cases, which indicates the spread of the infection. Hepatitis A is transmitted via the fecal-oral route, and the main cause of infection remains poor hygiene," stated representatives of the hygiene service. In Prague, 32 cases have already been registered since the beginning of the year — significantly more than in previous years.

Hepatitis A can lead to serious complications, especially in the elderly and individuals with weakened immune systems. The main symptoms include fever, nausea, loss of appetite, abdominal pain, and yellowing of the skin and mucous membranes.

Hygienists recommend thoroughly washing hands, consuming only safe food and water, and getting vaccinated, especially for people in risk groups. Although the epidemiological situation is not yet critical, specialists warn that without proper measures, the number of cases may continue to rise.
